Togo : Six African presidents to attend Lomé Fake Medicines Summit on January 17 and 18

The Togo government and the Brazzaville Foundation are jointly organizing a Summit to tackle fake medicines which aims to: adopt new legislation to penalize fake medicines trafficking; implement adequate procedures on a national level to ensure that criminal legislation is strictly applied; and encourage other African countries to join the fight.
The event organizers report that six heads of state have already confirmed that they will attend the Summit: Adama Barrow, Gambia; Denis Sassou N’Guesso, the Republic of Congo; Mahamadou Issoufou, Niger; Macky Sall, Senegal; Yoweri Museveni, Uganda; and Summit host, Faure Gnassingbé.
Key members of the Brazzaville Foundation are also expected to attend the event, including Jean-Yves Ollivier, Brazzaville Foundation President, Joyce Banda, former President of Malawi, Olusegun Obasanjo, former President of Nigeria, Kgalema Motlanthe, former President of South Africa, Amama Mbabazi, former Prime Minister of Uganda, Amara Essy, former Prime Minister of Côte d’Ivoire, and Kabiné Komara, former Prime Minister of Guinea.
