Between June 2018 and June 2019, the Belgian Agency of Medicines and Medical Devices (AEMPS) checked more than 50.000 parcels in Belgium as part of the 12th edition of INTERPOL’s Operation Pangea. More than 5.300 parcels contained fake or illegal products and the Operation identified around 500.000 tablets, tubes, bottles, etc. The most confiscated products were erectile dysfunction stimulants, steroids, sleeping tablets and painkillers. The products mostly came from Singapore, India and the US. The Agency has reported that 140 doping cases concerning products such as anabolic steroids were opened following the Operation.
