N.B. Several ways can prevent the reuse of vials: addition of a tamper evident flip cap above the rubber stopper (counterfeiters are known to re-glue this flip cap), addition of a shrink sleeve but again counterfeiters can easily obtain this technology
Description Glass body with a sealed cap made an aluminum collar and a rubber stopper in the center. Typically used for parenteral products, both in liquid and solid (dried) form. The rubber stopper is usually punctured by a needle, no need to remove the cap.

Strengths When a used vial is reused the cap can show sign of puncture on the rubber stopper, the collar can be loose etc..: tamper evidence;
An anti counterfeiting feature can be added on the vial such as a security label;

Limitations Easily copied by counterfeiters;
Can be refilled;
Often very sensitive and expensive product and the cap can easily be replaced;
