Description TruTag Technologies has developed a covert, low–cost, heat–resistant, and edible silica microtag (called TruTag®) that serves as an edible bar code and can be incorporated into solid oral dose medications as well as other materials and products (the tag can be added to coatings and applied to the exterior of edible goods, or added to ingredients such as powders). The unique physical properties of those microtags provide a vast library of available unique codes. The code can be measured via a portable spectrometer-based optical reader, then quickly verified against other cryptographic information printed on the package, such that the item and packaging are authenticated together. Additionally, each tag can reference a label in a secure database, where additional information about the item (including lot number, expiration date, date of manufacture, authorized customer, or country of authorized sale) can be stored as desired (such as a link to a future e-pedigree track and trace system).
