Description A code is printed on a label, this label is destructive and added to the packaging (ideally the primary pack). The user send a text with the code to a specific number indicated on the label. A sophisticated answer is texted back to the patient within a minute (name of the product, number of time the code was checked). The pharmacist has his own code to add to the one on the packaging if he also wants to check the authenticity of the product. The code is inimitable, it is made from the digitalization of ambient sounds.
If a fake code is send more than 5 times, the manufacturer is advised and localization of the counterfeits can be pass on thanks to the call prefix.

Strengths User verifiable;
Can also be verified by the pharmacist;
Possibility for the company to detect “hot spot”: geo-location of counterfeit products from text send with a fake code;

Limitations May give false assurance;
Cost (need to collaborate with every Telco of the country);
Cannot be verified by other stakeholders of the supply chain (only the pharmacist);
Packaging can be refilled: needs to be combined with other authentication system or tamper evidence;
