Description Technology based on the physical microstructure of a surface. The physical construction of the surface of a product (surface can be made of glass, metal, plastic, paper, carton) is captured and turned into a unique digital code: a signature. The code can be carried by the product itself in the form of a Datamatrix, a barcode, or a RFID, which would make the authentication of the product possible without a database (the signature would need to match the Datamatrix or barcode etc…). The signature is also stored in a database with the product metadata, the signature captured can be used as the metadata decryption key.
A specific reader is used to read the signature. Access to the database with or without internet, the information returned by the database is customizable (yes/no answer typically but more information can be provided).

Strengths Analysis of an intrinsic part of the product: no additional production cost;
Adaptable to all types of materials and industrial process;
No training needed;
Impossible to copy;
Instant authentication;
Cost effective;
Possibility to obtain logistics data thanks to the database;
Datamatrix (or other traceability system)+signature= authentication and identification;

Limitations Application for authentication only available for rights holders and authorities, not user verifiable for now;
