Description These inks change color when exposed to a specific light source, as with fluorescent inks, but in photochromic inks, the effect is longer lasting and the color reverts to the original hue only a few seconds or minutes after the light source is removed.
 
Strengths Low cost;
Can deter simple attempts at counterfeiting (such as color photocopying);
Easily verifiable with a blacklight (if the ink used glow under ultraviolet);
 
Limitations Not considered high security option;
Easily reproduced;
Require a light source with a specific wavelength;
The color reversion is not as fast as fluorescent inks;
