The fight against pharmaceutical crime.
In light of the spread of pharmaceutical crime, a group of European experts created the first Pharmacrime project to respond to what was already becoming a global scourge. There was an obvious need to provide a good practice guide to European investigators. This guide was validated at an international conference held in Brussels from September 27 to 29, 2010, entitled “Counterfeit medicines and organized crime – PHARMACRIME”.
More than 130 experts from 27 EU Member States – and also Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Switzerland, Russia, Serbia and the United States – contributed to the project. Senior officials in healthcare, law enforcement, judicial authorities and experts from the pharmaceutical industry were present.
The conference was organized in partnership with the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), the German Judicial Custom Administration (ZKA), the Judicial Customs Administration (SNDJ) and Sanofi-aventis.
