Description Mark® On-Dose ID™ is an authentication technology that incorporates microscopic covert micro-tags into the immediate-release film coatings of solid oral dose forms. The customized micro-tags can hold significant amounts of brand-owner specific encrypted information such as lot and batch ID numbers, logos and other text, patterns, shapes and symbols, in a particle the size of 75-110 microns. Nearly impossible to replicate or reverse engineer, the markers can also be incorporated as part of labels, bottles, paper and blister packaging. The ®mark On-Dose ID micro-tags are invisible to the naked eye once they are incorporated into a tablet film coating, but are easily identified with vision® optical viewing systems. These portable tools authenticate products by magnifying the micro-tags at any stage following the tablet coating process. The ®vision system enables accurate, in-field detection within a matter of seconds without destroying the sample. ®vision systems are a portable and cost-effective means of authenticating products at any stage within the supply chain. This system does not require external databases, communication networks or integration into data systems or Laboratories sites to authenticate a product. All that is required is a visual confirmation that the micro-tags are present and contain the correct information by viewing them with one of the ®vision tools.

Strengths The micro-tags are integrated into existing tablet film coating, processed without additional manufacturing steps or capital investments;
Intelligence: companies may utilize the information embedded within the micro-tag (e.g. batch and/or country codes) to immediately understand a product’s traceability;
Invisible to the naked eye;
Can be used in or on a product, package, label, or security fiber;
Edible and biologically inert;
Easy to authenticate;
Detection: portable device, within a matter of seconds, non-destructive

Limitations Only on solid oral form;
no serialization: no identification;
Cost
