Vertification level stakeholders of the supply chain with the correct equipment
N.B. Variable data (such as batch number and product expiration date) can be encrypted as well.
Description A high-resolution random pattern is printed directly on the packaging (using various printing techniques), the pattern is scanned with a 2D barcode scanner, a flatbed scanner or even a camera cell phone. The authentication requires BitSecure software or secure access to the BitSecure server system in which the digital profile is stored. The minimum size amounts to a few square millimeters.

Strengths The pattern is printed with the standard printing processes in high resolution): no additional production cost;
Can be printed on different types of substrate (carton, paper, aluminum foil);
No training needed;
Impossible to copy (a copy is less precise and would not authenticate the product);
Only a few square millimeters;
Instant authentication;
Cost effective;

Limitations Do not guarantee product integrity or tamper evidence used by itself: pack can be refilled and reused;
Need the appropriate software or access to the secure database;
