Europe : Secretary General of the Council of Europe urges States – worldwide – to address fake medical products by collaborating and harmonizing their legal tools

In a recent article, Marija Pejčinović Burić, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, highlighted the importance of the Medicrime Convention, saying that it is “currently even more appropriate in the fight against fake medicines”. She goes on to re-iterate the Convention’s three fundamental principles in efficiently tackling fake medicines trafficking:
– “Firstly, States must make full use of their criminal justice systems to bring the perpetrators of these atrocious crimes to justice.
– Secondly, States must enforce their national and international cooperation.
– Thirdly, States must protect victims”.
