The Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court issued its decision on the dispute between the Prosecutor General’s Office and Thiès Court of Appeal Judge, Souleymane Teliko. The High Court confirmed Judge Teliko’s decision to sentence Amadou Woury Diallo to five years in prison. Diallo, a Guinean national, was involved in trafficking fake medicines – the “Touba Bélel” case – and was granted a presidential pardon based on the Code of Criminal Procedure, which clearly defines the conditions under which an individual can benefit from a presidential pardon. These conditions include the fact that the individual must have exhausted all possible routes for appeal or that the sentence is definitive.
