India : Eleven children die after taking fake cough syrup

A laboratory has found the presence of diethylene glycol in samples from a batch of Digital Vision’s cough syrups and the state’s drug regulator has suspended the company’s manufacturing license. But Digital Vision’s track record has been red-flagged more than once by the Central Drug Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), as well as by regulators in Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra and J&K. Despite these reports, more than 3,000 bottles of the batch of substandard cough syrup are circulating in the market.
