On 15 January 2019, authorities in Switzerland informed WHO that a local wholesaler had purchased cartons of fake ICLUSIG 15mg, cancer medication. An investigation revealed that both fake versions had been marketed throughout the world, including via e-commerce. Laboratory analysis of batch 25A19E09 confirmed that the product did not contain Ponatinib, the active ingredient, but instead contained small amounts of paracetamol. And the analysis of batch PR072875 also indicates that it does not contain Ponatinib.
