Switzerland: in 2017 almost 60% of seized illicit medicines were erectile dysfunction treatments

In 2017, the Federal Swiss Customs Administration (FCA) seized 1060 shipments containing illegally imported medicines. This is an increase in comparison to 2016 (1028). The top five most seized products were: sexual stimulants (59%), illegal imports, antibiotics and painkillers (16%), sleeping tablets and tranquillizers (12%), slimming products (2.5%) and hair growth stimulators (1.5%). As was the case in 2016, most of the illegal parcels were sent from India (44.5%), Singapore and Germany. Customs officers have also reported a rise in shipments from eastern Europe, especially Poland.
