Zambia: Health Agency concerns over falsified chlorine following cholera epidemic

The Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA) has said that it has intensified inspections for falsified chlorine which is in circulation because of a cholera epidemic. The relevant authorities have launched a screening campaign and are visiting manufacturers and importers as well as the general market to collect samples for testing. The Medicines and Allied Substances Act (including disinfectants such as chlorine and hand sanitizers) states that a person shall not manufacture, import, export, distribute, sell, store or deal in any manner with substandard, counterfeit, adulterated or misbranded medicines or allied substances.
