Congolese president urged African leaders and the international community to join the fight against fake medicines

Denis Sassou-Nguesso, Congolese chief of state, has presented a fake-medicines and dangerous products pact to African heads of state during the African Union summit (10-18 July). Sassou-Nguesso intends to propose concrete measures on how to deal with the problem and traffickers and he appeals to the international community to take up the fight.

He plans to create an “inter-ministerial High Commission for the suppression of illicit medicines and dangerous products trafficking” in Congo. At the same time, Sassou-Nguesso plans to meet Congo ambassadors and will address the topic at the next United Nations session in September.
