In 2012, the US Food and Drug Administration had already investigated the online sales of drugs Canadadrugs.com and two shipments of counterfeit cancer drugs that had been delivered to more than a hundred American doctors.
In a warning letter dated September 21, 2012, the FDA had said the Canadadrugs.com website violated federal law by selling foreign versions of drugs against erectile dysfunction, such as Viagra® and Levitra®, and other unapproved drugs to US customers.
In 2014, Health Canada suspended the license of establishment of the company for sale to pharmacies, distributors and wholesalers. The College of Pharmacists of Manitoba, in charge of authorizations of online sale of drugs to private customers, had left to Canadadrugs.com the license for sale to individuals.
However, the online sales site was still active.
But Wednesday, March 25, 2015, officers of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police seem to have reopened the case and raided the headquarter of the company located in Winnipeg. No official information on the reasons for the investigation was provided.
Canada Drugs prides itself, since its creation in 2001, on being the number one online pharmacy in terms of product knowledge, prescription choice, quality and safety.
