Somalia: The Minister of Health of Puntland, Sadik Enow, declares war against counterfeit drugs

The Ministry of Health of Puntland, a region in northeastern Somalia, launches a major crackdown against counterfeit medicines sellers in the region.

Thus, visits of outlets will be made by the authorities to verify the legality of the pharmaceuticals products sold and current regulations will be revised to better control drug imports in the country.

The Minister also announced that severe penalties will be applied against illegal importers (businessmen or foreign companies) which import in the country medicines from Asia and other African countries without authorization.
